Thank you for your comment. From what I can tell Mr. Weschler has not changed his holding in the company for more than 5 years. Back then, @greatquarter wrote a SeekingAlpha article about the company (https://seekingalpha.com/article/4277433-ted-weschler-and-neil-wilkin-story-optical-cable-corporation) in which he speculated that Mr. Weschler might push management to sell the business. More recently, one of @focusedcompounding's listeners wrote in, shared that he had contact with OCC's management, but also could not understand what Weschler's angle was (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhleGR1KK10&t=1057s).
Personally, I do not have any great insight on the topic. If I had to guess I would say he sees a differentiated business, attractive incremental returns, unused capacity, and an asset base that limits downside risk.
I mentioned a few peers in the piece you can use for cross reads, but generally speaking you are best to wait for their numbers. The quarter they are about to report might have been impacted by Hurricane Helene (the Swannanoa plant is in NC). But generally, I don’t think a stock with this level of liquidity should be traded on quarters, nor would I read too much into short term share price moves.
Any understanding of Ted Weschler's connection with this company or how he came to be involved in it?

With copper prices going up, could there a tailwind for fiber?
Any update? Stock continues to do poorly. Earnings are on Monday
Hi Rahul,
I mentioned a few peers in the piece you can use for cross reads, but generally speaking you are best to wait for their numbers. With copper prices going up, could that be tailwind for occ? The revenue growth rate if any has been slow.
